Waking Up From Hibernation Mode

Truth-be-told, I know a few people who go into “hibernation mode” once the holidays are over. Sometimes they briefly “wake up” for the New Year’s celebration, but like clockwork, ultimately go back into a slumber state.

What gets them out of it? I noticed Daylight Savings Time is the first step that snaps them out of it. Slowly but surely, more people get out of their sleep state and begin to embrace the great time that is Spring. Flowers are blooming, birds are cooing, and warm weather encourages more day trips.

In Hawaiʻi, you can see the subtle changes of the seasons. Specifically, on the Big Island, you can always see snow on Mauna Kea to remind us it is winter. What almost feels like overnight, the budding flora and fauna are soon flourishing. It truly is a sight to see and appreciate.

The majority of people who relocate to Hawaiʻi find themselves enjoying outdoor living more. It can be as simple as having an outdoor meal in the backyard, making a day trip to the beach—a staple favorite, or maybe a road trip to the other side of the island.

One of the great things about living on the islands is having options on types of adventures you can partake in for the day or the weekend. There’s no rush, just opportunities for adventure or to wind down.

So what’s the best way of waking up from hibernation mode? Getting a fresh cup of coffee and making the decision to enjoy an outdoor activity.

What are your plans for this weekend?
