Its Magic The Sand Is GONE

You may have noticed, driving along Alii drive is different these past few days...

Several times during the year the sand at La'aloa Bay (very sacred bay) disappears...

A normally white sand beach and one of the most popular beaches in Kona... "Magically"  after several days of a large swell, becomes a normal rocky beach, in Kona.

So if you talk to the locals,or check your travel guides,  they will call this Bay, Magic Sands, or Disappearing Sands Beach or even White Sands... which really doesn't apply right now.

The big question is... where does the sand go???

Answer... not very far, it just pulls the sand  from the top, (which is just below the volleyball court), and exposes the rocks... then takes it out to sea just past the break...

Don't worry... when the next big swell comes in... it usually will bring the sand back.  Only time will tell, even the Ocean is on Hawaiian time... It will happen when it is ready!!!

Drive safe everyone...
